The Village of Bartlett was incorporated in 1891 as a 40-acre farm property owned by Luther Bartlett along the Chicago and Pacific railroad line. Today, Bartlett, IL encompasses 16 square miles and is home to over 40,000 residents and over 100 miles of streets.

Bartlett is known for its careful planning and has been able to maintain its friendly small town atmosphere while welcoming residential, commercial and industrial growth. The Village’s stable and well-diversified economy has enabled Bartlett to attain and maintain an A-1 rating, the second highest attainable, from Moody’s Investment Services.

Bartlett’s future is one of continued, well-planned growth, including an active economic development program to attract business and industry to the Village. Available land, a pro-business administration, incentives, and ongoing infrastructure and streetscape improvements have helped create an atmosphere where a wide range of businesses thrive, from a one-person candy shop to Fortune 500 companies. Bartlett’s downtown business district and Route 59 and Stearns Road commercial area give the town visibility and attracts consumers to dine and shop.

In the DuPage County portion of Bartlett, Brewster Creek Business Park is one of the fastest-growing business parks in the Chicago area. Developed as a public-private partnership between the Village and the landowner, Elmhurst Chicago Stone Company, 670 acres of a vacated quarry are being reclaimed to establish one of the premier business locations in the county. As of spring 2012, 75 businesses are now located in the park, bringing in over 1,500 employees and many more vendors and customers per day.

Located approximately thirty miles northwest of Chicago, Bartlett has the major transportation networks needed to serve the greater Chicagoland region. US Route 20, IL Route 59, I-90, and the Elgin-O’Hare Expressway are all easily accessible to the Village. A highly-educated and well-trained workforce is available with customized training programs offered by nearby Elgin Community College.
